A poem for Grandma
I’ll paint you a scene,
For you all to glean,
I’m dancing and laughing with old friends who went before me,
I’m at peace and wonderfully free,
Unencumbered with earthly pain and worry,
Sorry if it seemed as though to go I was in a hurry,
I wasn’t you see, it’s just that our maker called on me,
He offered me a brand new start,
Which, in comparison, is a walk in the park,
With no sadness, where beauty abounds,
Where true happiness and a perfect existence can be found,
Oh, if you could see me now you would dry your teary eyes,
Listen, now is not the time for you to cut your earthly ties!
There is much for you to do, much to achieve,
I have done it all, it’s time for me to take my leave!
The everyday tasks which you must attend to, for me will keep,
I’m off to have my long, well-deserved sleep,
But when you are sad, or you feel rather blue,
I beg you not to start weeping anew,
Although you cannot see me, promise me one thing,
March on, live your life, and my voice through you will sing.
